Hydronic underfloor heating is technically well-suited for operation with air-to-water and ground-source heat pumps, as both systems operate at low flow temperatures — typically between 30°C and 45°C — which aligns with heat pump design operating ranges and maximises coefficient of performance (COP). RENOVEX designs hydronic circuits with appropriate pipe spacing and flow rates to achieve target surface temperatures at the lowest practicable flow temperature, compatible with the heat source specified for the property.

In renovation scenarios where full screed removal is not feasible, dry-system underfloor heating panels — comprising routed insulation boards or aluminium heat-diffuser plates — can be installed at low floor build-up heights of 20mm to 30mm, depending on the product system. These panels accept standard PEX or multilayer pipe and are compatible with most flooring types including engineered parquet, laminate, and LVT, subject to manufacturer thermal resistance (Rλ) specifications. Following pipe installation and prior to screed application, a hydraulic pressure test is conducted on all circuits to verify system integrity under test pressure, with results documented and retained. After screed curing, a structured heating-up programme is followed to condition the screed in accordance with EN 1264-4 protocols. Hydraulic balancing is then carried out at manifold level, zone controls are configured, and final flow and return temperatures are verified against the design specification before handover documentation is issued.
